THE FOLLOWING IS A BRIEF HISTORY OF LANDMARK CHURCH
Landmark Church is a charter member of "Grace International. A Worldwide Fellowship of Churches and Ministries." We have been part of the Battle Ground community for nearly 50 years, originally founded as Battle Ground Tabernacle in 1960 by Rev. and Mrs. Stephen Eldred. In 1977, feeling the call of God for this area, Pastor Ed and Sherrel Staton moved from Coos Bay, Oregon with a burden to serve the city of Battle Ground. Shortly after arriving, God placed in their hearts the dream of building a larger facility better equipped to serve the growing community around them. In 1993, after many years of dreaming, praying and building, they and their congregation moved, debt-free, into their new building. Over the years, it has been our honor to carry on the legacy and dream of our founding pastors, the Eldred's. We have seen dreams come to pass and have felt new dreams being placed in the heart of God's people. As a result, we believe that God has placed us here to serve and help meet the various personal and spiritual needs of this area. Our heart is to offer a relevant worship environment that ministers to our congregation and equips us all to reach out to our community with a heart of compassion. As we use various kinds of ministry, we hope to impact people, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey, with the hope and healing power of the gospel. |
